Alejandro Clocchiatti

Professor from the Astronomy and Astrophysics Department of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Degree in Astronomy from the University of La Plata, Argentina; Master’s degree and PhD from the University of Texas, USA. He has received the following recognitions: Scholarships Honors from the McDonald Observatory, Texas, USA. (1988); from the University of Texas (1991) and postdoctoral Gemini (1995). Great Scientific Advancement of the Year Awards—together with the Search Group of Supernovas High Z—of the journal Science (1998) and Gruber of Cosmology – together with the Supernovas Search Group High Z- awarded by the Gruber Foundation and the International Astronomical Union (2007). He studies supernovas and high performance astronomical computing.
