Alfonsina Storni
Born in Sala Capriasca, Switzerland, in 1892 and died in Mar del Plata, Argentina, in 1938. She occupied a prominent place in Latin American literature and represented, along with the Chilean Gabriela Mistral and the Uruguayan Juana de Ibarbourou, an advance in the struggle of women to occupy places of recognition in American literature. She was a collaborator in the publications of Caras y Caretas, Nosotros, Atlántida, La Nota and in the newspaper La Nación. Storni was part of the Anaconda group with Horacio Quiroga and Enrique Amorín. She won several literary awards. She wrote several literary works, theater, essays, and books for children.
