Álvaro Valdivia Pareja holds a Master’s degree in Public Health in the specialty of Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention by the Karolinska Institutet of Stockholm, Sweden. Additionally, he has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology by Universidad de Lima; he is a rational emotive cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist by Psicotrec and advanced psychotherapist by the Albert Ellis Institute in New York. He has worked as a psychotherapist at Ricardo Palma private hospital. He is a professor at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), where he received the Golden Talent award for his work as a professor in the School of Psychology and the Silver Talent award in the School of Communications. He is currently the founder and director of Sentido – Centro Peruano de Suicidología y Prevención del Suicidio, where he sees private patients, guides self-help books for survivors of suicidal mourning, trains mental health professionals, the media and gatekeepers on suicide prevention and does research in suicidology. www.sentido.pe
