He has a degree in Pedagogy from the Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas (UNACH), a Master's in Philosophy from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) and a Doctor of Science in Ecology and Sustainable Development with orientation in Studies of Society, Spaces and Cultures from El Colegio de la Frontera Sur (ECOSUR). His publications and academic interests revolve around phenomenology, ethics, migration, education, critical pedagogy, and studies on the LGBT population in Higher Education Institutions.
