Son of a biologist and a physicist who taught him the love for nature and science. He studied biology at Kalamazoo College and ecology at the University of Michigan. Since 2002 he has worked as a researcher at El Colegio de la Frontera Sur. His research and teaching lines are: ecological restoration, sustainable ranching, and social and pedagogical dimensions of agroecology. He is a member of Mexico’s National Researcher System.
