Carlos Mendoza

Film director, researcher, founder and current director of 6th July Channel. Graduate and professor of Documentary Film at the University Centre for Film Studies of the UNAM. An Ariet Winner for best documentary in 1982, for his work El Chahuistle, Mendoza also won first prize in the National Video Biennial with Modernidad bárbara and in 1993, he won Best Screenplay Award for his documentary Contracorriente. In 1999, published his book El ojo con merh-oria: apuntes para un método de cine documental, published by UNAM, and received the José Rovirosa Prize for his documentary Petatera, which also got the first and third prizes of the San Gimignano (Italy) Festival of Ethnographic Film and Religious Documentation. In 2003 he obtained the Second Coral Award for his documentary Tlatelolco, las claves de la masacre in the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, Cuba.
