She has a degree in International Trade from the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, a master’s degree in Regional Economics from the Centro de Investigaciones Socioeconómicas de la Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila, and a PhD in Economics from FEYRI-UABC. During her graduate studies she has been a scholarship holder by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt). She has done research stays at the University of Castilla La Mancha, Spain, and at Harvard University, through the Real Colegio Complutense and the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies. She has participated in research activities in the CLACSO-FACSO-CROP Network on Poverty Studies in Latin America and the Caribbean. Her research topics are related to the study of industrial dynamics, urban growth and welfare in the Northern Border.
