Jaime Chica Escobar received the B.Sc degree in civil engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the M.Sc. degree in mathematics from Universidad de Antioquia. A professor and researcher, he has been a speaker at several events in the region and Colombia. His most remarkable publications include Álgebra de tensores y Análisis matricial [Tensor algebra and matrix analysis] and Introducción a la Geometría del Espacio [Introduction to the geometry of space]. Additionally, he has co-authored La ecuación general de segundo grado en dos y tres variables [The general equation of the second degree in two and three variables] and the seriesTratado sobre las Secciones Cónicas [Treatise on conic sections].
