Jaime Gómez Ruiz, doctor in Ecology and Sustainable Development from ECOSUR, where he is a researcher for the academic group Arthropod Ecology and Pest Management. His area of research has been integrated pest management, with an emphasis on biological control. His subjects of study are the coffee borer Hypothene mushampei, the soybean weevil Rhysomatus nigerrimus, the Asian citrus psyllid Diaphorina citri, and insects associated with the pine nut, castor and the Hemileia vastatrix coffee rust. He is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI), level I.
