Born in San Salvador, 1973. He has published: Noviembre (Tusquets, 2016); Medianoche del mundo (visor, 2016); El círculo (visor); El estanque colmado (visor); Los otros mundos (Alfaguara infantil); La ciudad (Pre-texts); Breve historia del alba (Rialp); among others. He won the award of the Royal Spanish Academy of Language in 2016 for the novel "Noviembre". Also received the Casa de América Prize in 2016; The Antonio Machado International Prize, Madrid, 2009; and the Adonais Prize, Madrid 2006. His novel “La habitación al fondo de la casa" has been translated to other languages and published by Modadori in Italy and Penguin Random House in Germany.
