Juan Santiago René Schobinger

Juan Santiago René Schobinger held a doctorate in Archaeology from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Buenos Aires. He was professor emeritus of Prehistory, Archeology, Anthropology and History of the Ancient Orient and director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnology at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, UNCuyo. For many years, he was the editor of the journal Anales de Arqueología y Etnología at the same university. He authored more than 150 scientific papers in journals from Argentina and other countries, specialized in prehistoric art and high altitude archaeology. He was a principal participant in the study and rescue of the Inca burials on the mountains El Toro, Aconcagua, and Nevado de Chuscha. He was highly active in academics and received various distinctions for his life’s work.
