PhD in Literature from the Buenos Aires University (UBA), where she is professor and researcher in the cultural studies area. She has lectured as visiting professor at Stanford University, Essex University, National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Catholic University of Chile, and other Argentine and Latin American universities. She was awarded with the Thalmann Scholarship (UBA) in 1988, with the British Academy Professorship Award in 2004, and with the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2007.
