Sociologist with a Master’s degree and PhD in Ibero-American Studies from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, 2001 and 2005. He won an Award for Best Doctoral Research, award-winning thesis and winner of the Extraordinary Award for best doctoral thesis. He was visiting scholar in the University of Cambridge (2000) and the University of Manchester (2002). Director of Financial Division and Territorial Development of the Planning National Department. He has been director of the CIDSE (Socioeconomic Investigation and Documentation Center), Director of the Sociology Undergraduate Program, Head of the Social Sciences Department, and Dean of the Social and Economics School, Director of the Planning Office from the Universidad del Valle and rector in the same university. He has published numerous articles in academic journals. He is the author of several books.
