Ph.D. in Development Studies by the International Institute of Social Studies of the Erasmus University, Rotterdam. During the first years of her professional life, she studied the problems associated with the Mexican countryside. After that, she studied the migratory issue, specially the migration of Mexicans to the United States and, more recently, of Central Americans transit and their settlements.
