Manuel Bolom Pale
He was born in Huixtán, Chiapas, in 1979. Narrator and poet in the Tsotsil language. Bachelor of Psychology from the Maya University and teacher in Teaching from the Institute of Graduate Studies of Chiapas. In 2006 he was director of the House of Culture of Huixtán. FONCA Fellow (2010-2011). Y el Bolom dice… Award in 2004. Award for indigenous essay Pueblos y Palabras 2005. State Award for Indigenous Poetry Pat O’tan 2008. Nezahualcóyotl Award for Literature in Mexican Languages 2016 for his poetry book Sk’inal xikitin: k’opojel yu ‘ a nupunel. Fiesta de la cicada: a ceremonial speech for marriage. Part of his work is included in the anthology Ma’yuk sti’ilal xch’inch’unel k’inal. Silence without a border: poems and stories (San Cristóbal de las Casas, Secretariat of Indigenous Peoples and Cultures, 2011).
