Professor at the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Bachelor from the University of Sao Paulo; Master’s degree and PhD from the University of Sao Paulo. He has received the following recognitions: National Research Council/NASA Research Associateship Award (NRC, USA, 1996), Best Doctoral Thesis, Biennium 1996-1997 (Brazilian Astronomical Society, Brazil, 1998), Hubble Postdoctoral Fellowship Award (Space Telescope Science Institute, USA, 1998), NASA Astrophysics Theory Program (ATP) Award (NASA Headquarters, 1999) (with Allen V. Sweigart). He studies stellar evolution, globular clusters and variable stars.
