He lived his childhood in Mexico and attended primary school with Spanish Republican refugees. He did his Bachelor’s degree in Bogotá, in an institute that began as a boarding school for coastal boys, whose director had been trained at the Escuela Normal Superior. He published his first text in the Eco magazine, Buchholz bookstore. "Today and all that has disappeared." He became an editor in 1975 and remained for thirty years. He brought together the work of some Colombian authors, including chroniclers, novelists, poets, essayists and painters. Among his latest works as editor, which is a vocation, are the journals Gradiva and Conversaciones desde La Soledad. He recently published the Syndéresis books. Two essays: Álvaro Mutis and Gabriel García Márquez and Óscar Muñoz, in black and white and the poetry book La mala Parca.
