Vicente Battista

Vicente Battista is a writer and a journalist. He published his first book, Los muertos, in 1967, and stands as one of the greatest narrators of his generation since the publication of his collected short stories Como tanta gente que anda por ahí (1975) and El final de la calle (1992). Part of his work has been translated into French and Italian, and has been recognized by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes, Casa de las Américas, the Planeta Award, and the Municipal Literature Prize. Among his novels, the most important ones are Siroco (1984), Sucesos argentinos (1995), Gutiérrez a secas (2002) and Ojos que no ven (2012). In 2013, he published Enlaces y cabos sueltos, a collection of fictions, essays and biographical notes. He compiled an unusual Antología del cuento policial argentino (2015) made up of stories written exclusively by authors alien to the genre.
