PhD in Social Sciences with a specialty in Political Studies from FLACSO Ecuador. Achieved qualification of excellence with her doctoral dissertation. Works as profesor at the Instituto de Altos Estudios Nacionales (IAEN), Ecuador. Her research focuses on Political Ethnography on topics related to the participation of women in Ecuador and the relations between feminist movements, the State and participatory democracy. Violeta Mosquera is the author of the book Mujeres congresistas: estereotipos sexistas e identidades estratégicas (Female congress women: sexist stereotypes and strategic identities) published by FLACSO and Abya Yala in 2006.
