PhD candidate by the State University of Norte Fluminense (UENF) and professor at the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG), where he coordinates the Social Work undergrad. Barcellos holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work and a master's degree in Social Politics from UENF. Besides, he leads a research nucleus in Social Work and Politics and teaches Social Politics at Centro Universitário Redentor.
