Xavier Andrade
Ph.D. in Anthropology from The New School for Social Research, New York. He is an Associate Professor at Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, where he is also Coordinator of the Laboratorio de Antropología de la Imagen. As a scholar, he has published extensively on the anthropology of the image; contemporary art; popular culture; drug-trafficking in Ecuador, New York, and Mexico; the privatization of public space; masculinity in a comparative perspective; and disabilities. Andrade’s artistic and curatorial practice—an extension of his ethnographic research on the social life of images—is catalyzed through Full Dollar Inc., a ’Pataphysics-inspired institution that has trafficked in contemporary art since 2004.
