Full researcher and coordinator of the Center for Research, Diagnosis and Training in Malaria and professor of malariology at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC/Fiocruz); researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development; scientist at the Carlos Chagas Filho Research Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro; member of the national medical academies of Brazil and France and the Board of the International Federation for Tropical Medicine, as the last ex-president (2012-2016), chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Academies of the French government and Honorary Doctor of Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
