Esteban Suárez Robalino

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from PUCE and M.S. and PhD in Ecosystem Ecology from Cornell University. Since 2009 he is a professor/researcher at USFQ. His main interest is the ecology and conservation of high mountain ecosystems. His research seeks to characterize the diversity and functioning of páramo peatlands, their carbon dynamics, the potential effects of land use, climate change and on their integrity and health. His research group leads several high Andean peatland restoration initiatives, trying to develop accessible and economical methods to restore mountain ecosystems.
