1000 CARICATURAS AFRO EN LA HISTORIA DE COLOMBIA

1000 Afro Cartoons in the Colombian History is a journey for more than one hundred fourteen years of history of afro-descendants, portrayed by the editorial cartoons on the newspapers of the country, from newspapers to internet blogs. This book makes a long journey that includes all the masters of this genre: Rendón, Pepe Gómez, Merino, Chapete, Osuna, Pepón, Vladdo, Matador and many others that, at some point of their work, have drawn the realities of afro-descendants. Each of the one thousand cartoons is analyzed and explained according to its historical context. This process allows to understand not only the spelling but also the role of the afro characters drawn. Doubtless, these cartoons shape an impressing corpus that solidifies the role of the afro-descendants in the conformation of the country and visualize them as important participants of the current political and sociocultural life.
