ABOUT THE CLASSROOM. A CONTRIBUTION TO THE TEACHING OF LITERATURE

DEL AULA. APORTE A LA ENSEÑANZA DE LA LITERATURA

Among its many attractions, About the Classroom. A Contribution to the Teaching of Literature, transports us to the daily life of an Argentine high-school of the 1920s. The first part of this volume is an example—surprising because of its distance in time—of what we would now call the narratives of teaching practice. It includes reflections, class transcriptions and lectures given by Emilio Alonso Criado in school settings. The second part of the book compiles autobiographical, journalistic or literary texts written by his students. Both parts together illustrate the pedagogical ideology of a literature teacher convinced that high school education must work as an experimental laboratory of the future scientific and cultural activities that citizens will have to develop.
