Sadly, the most common teaching model that is present in our school system today is still the one in which students sit in rows, are told to keep quiet, to pay attention and to simply watch the teacher speak, taking notes and following the explanations of the subject in their textbooks and on the blackboard. This format, however, makes it difficult for students to construct their own ideas, especially when they are studying History, and relegates them to the role of passive viewers that can memorize what are hearing but that are kept distant from the real content they should be studying. Having this in mind, the mission of this book is to help readers think outside the box and lead them to understand how the adoption of audiovisual resources in History classes can offer students a more active participation in the studying process, so that they can build their own knowledge of the subject.
