Bioética: Princípios Morais e Aplicações (2ª edição)

The second edition of the book Bioethics: moral principles and applications part of the distinction between General (or global) Bioethics and Special Bioethics (the latter sometimes confused with ethics in human research, particularly in biomedicine). The work critically discusses the prevailing theory, principlism – based in the rules of respect for autonomy, non-maleficence, of beneficence and justice – and proposes to unify these two bioethical dimensions from an ethical principle. By pointing out some problems underlying principlism, in particular its metaethical basis intuitionistic, which can generate moral dilemmas, and the insufficiency of the four traditional norms. The author intends to add an intermediate principle of reverence for the value of life be justified by the principle first, built with the help of the Triple Theory. from that new conceptual scheme, discusses the classic themes of bioethics related to the beginning, the middle and the end of life.
