It has been known for several decades that the intensification of human activities and associated waste products are changing the ecology of this planet, seeing massive migrations of people fleeing from environmental degradation, social unrest and violence, fostered by a culture consumption and profit that we see around us. However, it is recognized with increasing urgency that such continued growth is not sustainable for a finite planet like ours.
