This work arises from research carried out in the MA in Environmental Law and Management at the Universidad del Rosario and seeks to contribute to discussions on the sustainability of development. These reflections start from the premise that the “greening of private law” must begin from the core of companies, that is, from corporate principles that guide their actions, in the way how they design their statutes and procedures and deal with compliance with and respect for national and international standards. Hence, their performance and relationship with their environment during the implementation of works, projects, or activities should reflect a transparent and responsible internalization of fundamental premises such as respect for local customs, understanding of ecosystem limits, and consideration of people and groups in vulnerable situations. In this sense, this book consists of four chapters: the first two examine, from a general perspective, corporate environmental law and infrastructure projects, while the third and fourth chapters study the implications of two specific and controversial economic sectors in Colombia: the oil palm industry and the fracking industry.
