MONEDA Y NACIÓN. DEL FEDERALISMO AL CENTRALISMO ECONÓMICO EN COLOMBIA (1850–1922)

The discussion about monetary system was one of the most fruitful and far-reaching controversies during the 19th century. The political debate and power struggle within the regional elites, expressed at national level through the political groups consolidated during this period, determined the measures that were taken to solve the difficulties. Beyond its technical validity or its viability, the solutions were inextricably linked to the vision of the nation that each of these groups sought to impose on others.
