CURRICULUM AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN LATIN AMERICA

CURRÍCULUM Y DERECHOS HUMANOS EN LATINOAMÉRICA

This book is thought for people who are studying to be teachers. We propose to understand university curriculum as a political project that wonders: What do we teach? What for? Whom? In relation with which Latin American project? That is to say, we intend to think that the professional training can be analyzed in the light of relationship between society and education, theory and practice, university and school. This curriculum must be always thought in favor of a democratic education to reduce social exclusion. As Santos (2011) says “there is no social global justice if there is not cognitive global justice”. This implies to challenge the knowledge that circulates at universities and schools, because capitalism and colonialism are linked, and so, it is necessary to create new ways of knowledge that allow to intensify the willingness to social transformation.
