Since its first edition, 17 years ago, educators have widely used this book in the medical professions in North America, as well as in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. The book has even been translated into Chinese and Japanese. The publication aims to benefit medical educators with the learning of a practical, generic, and timeless approach to curricular development to addresses current and future needs. The editors chose three topics that stand out in the book’s last revision: competency-based education, which includes milestones and reliable professional activities (APROC) as evaluation tools, interprofessional education, and educational technology. These topics have been emphasized within the presentation of the six steps, as well as in the examples that were used to apply the concepts.
