The deaf no longer speak is a novel that aims to make the historical judgment of the greatest tragedy experienced by Colombia in its last years: the destruction of Armero. With the same style that characterizes his review of Colombian life based on novels, Álvarez Gardeazábal manages, in this work, to confuse the limits of reality with those of fiction, plunging his finger into the wound that is still thirty-five years old. After that fateful Wednesday, November 13, 1985, it has not healed in the memory of those who lived it.
