Death in cinema: Narrative ethics at the end of life

La muerte en el cine: ética narrativa

The topics presented in this text focus on bioethical and legal conflicts in settings such as critical decisions in emergencies, palliative care, dementia, euthanasia and assisted suicide, altered states of consciousness, as well as health justice regarding organ and tissue transplantation.
The joint work of students and teachers was able to identify a set of topics that address both medical elements and cultural, moral, and legal variables regarding the issues raised, in order to offer the necessary elements to address the complexity of each one of them, in which cinema has been used as a didactic resource that brings together the argumentative process in each case. We hope that this text will be useful for medical students, doctors, health professionals, and all those interested in deliberating on bioethical problems, that transcend professional interests, since they have an increasing impact on our societies and daily lives.
