The Dictionary of Ecuadorian Spanish, aims to reflect the country’s linguistic reality and encrypt the memory of a language rich in variations and complexities. The vast work of prefixing the lexical elements of the Spanish spoken in Ecuador does not seek to propagate new linguistic norms, but to describe the current landscape to which these words have arrived after years of being forged in the country’s collectivity; as though this were a portrait of the country’s people and their habitual places. This dictionary is contrastive in nature. According to the words of Fernando Miño-Garcés himself, who has invested 32 years in the meticulous construction of this lexicographical work, the 10,500 words described here have different connotations, or are not known at all.
