This book explores sources giving rise to the risks involved in the Colombian postconflict. It does so through a perspective of links formed decades ago between legal resources and dynamics of the armed conflict and crime in Colombia’s different regions. Based on a detailed analysis of the banana trade (in Urabá), coffee trade (in Caldas, Risaralda and Quindío), coal (in La Guajira and Cesar), emeralds (in Boyacá), ferronickel (in the municipality of Montelíbano, Córdoba), flowers (in Sabana de Bogotá), gold (in Chocó, Santander, Tolima and Nariño) and oil (Arauca, Casanare, Meta, and the municipality of Barrancabermeja, Santander), the book suggests that, beyond the drug trade, different economic activities have been related to the armed conflict and crime, and these must be taken into account when formulating public policy and new research agendas.
