During the late-colonial period and the first decades of the 19th century, the Rio de la Plata scene was a peripheral space with respect to the European world, but of growing relevance in the dynamics of political, economic and socio-cultural interrelations. The authors included in this anthology participated in the public and semi-public space through journalistic and literary publications, travel accounts, autobiographies, their participation in political clubs, cafés, gatherings and other places of customary or associative sociability. The documents that make up this anthology have been published on different occasions, but they are scattered and, therefore, are difficult to access for students taking the course “Argentine History I” of the History Department of the Faculty of Human Sciences of the UNLPam. The objective of this edition is to produce an approach to the study of rioplatense history (colonial period and first half of the 19th century) from historical sources, whose analysis allows the development of reading strategies and the acquisition of didactic skills to integrate the documents to the field of professional practices.
