Elections and electoral systems are commonly used concepts, which are much talked about, but very little known academically. This academic study shows a simple and methodical explanation of the different electoral systems that have been implemented in Colombia, their duration (reforms and counter-reforms), and partially (due to the scarcity of electoral statistics), a clarification of their tendency to concentrate power in few ‘elites.’ This systematization is based solely and exclusively on official primary sources, available in virtual annexes
