The evaluation of the environmental impact procedures in the cross-border context in the MERCOSUR constitute the core of this work. From the point of view of international environmental law and integration law, it investigates in depth and from different levels of analysis, the concept, legal status, scope and content of these fundamental management tools for the protection of the environment.This work points out the progress and difficulties of the MERCOSUR in developing its environmental dimension and justifies the need and convenience of providing it with a general regime on environmental impact assessment for the cross-border context.
