Heritage
Patrimonio

This book, written collectively, proposes to understand the [counter] heritage narratives of historical and national monumentality in three Latin American capitals: Santiago, Buenos Aires, and Brasilia. It is based on the premise that the definition and installation of monumentality contains in itself ideologies and utopias of the nation. This task has historically been the privilege of the State and its institutionality, thus tending towards a monolithic and exclusive narrative about the ideal city. However, cities and their monuments are also disputed spaces, whether through writing, rewriting or the commemorative performance of the new meanings of their forms.
