This book examines a series of infectious, nutritional and genetic diseases that are determining factors in the occupation and appropriation of different regions in the country and, thus, in the social processes that have taken place since the 16th century. Based on the historical, etiological, anecdotal, geopolitical, social, clinical, economic or purely scientific features of these diseases, it accounts for the development of modern medical knowledge that gave rise to etiopathological thinking and, with it, the evolution of other related disciplines.
This book is the product of several years of work by its author, who is not only a pediatrician but also a prominent historian and museologist.
