This is the collected work of Formosa writer Hugo Orlando del Rosso (1926-2002). This first volume offers the stories published in Páginas de amor, angustia y soledad (1970), and reedited in 1992; Noche sin estrellas (1972); Sol a pique (Relatos de la siesta, de la policía y otras yerbas) (1979); and Más cuentos cortos para el niño triste (1981). The introduction that accompanies this volume dives into the experience of space in del Rosso’s work, resorting to the categories of enunciative locus and implied author to analyze how several zones are delineated and projected, as concentric areas, from the city towards the river (the space of the riverbank and the river itself) and, from there, towards the interior of the territory of the province of Formosa. These different zones construct geo-cultural images of the river, the riverbank and the mountain and are thematic and discursive constants -chronotopes- in the stories presented here.
