As a species, we humans are currently going through a paradoxical moment in our history—a moment both bright and dark. Thus, we are experiencing anxiety and uncertainty about the future awaiting us in this “technological age” we are living in. Are we the masters of our technology, or are we produced by it instead? Is there any place for us in the future, or are we condemned to disappear, replaced by new species of technologically improved beings? In short, is it possible to live an authentic human life in a hi-tech world? This book addresses these and other urgent questions, dealing with the possibilities of humanization, or rather, of dehumanization, brought about by new technologies. From the vantage points of philosophy and theology, the writings in this volume seek to elaborate some answers regarding such a vital subject.
