The relative singularity of the Colombian case in the Latin American context guides the objective of this book: to investigate the omission of political judgment as a tool for judging democratically elected presidents and former presidents in Colombia. Despite the existence of evidence that could related between presidents with corruption and violations’s acts of the Constitution, the Congress has historically not initiated an investigation and potential impeachment of presidents during their term of office or as former presidents. Based on the journalistic examination of the cases of seven Colombian presidents, this book demonstrates the existence of a historical pattern of omission of impeachment. With an untouchable presidential political jurisdiction, it has been impossible for the Supreme Court of Justice to investigate in detail the participation or responsibility of the presidents in the events of which they have been accused.
