The Philosophy proposed by Jean-Luc Marion is a Phenomenology, and therefore his intention is to describe the manifestations constituting the human condition. However, his point of view is radical in that he tries to arrive to the common point among these phenomenal manifestations: their disturbing donation. The phenomena occur without being subject to conditions of possibility that are imposed on the subject to which they appear; they occur above any and all subjective reception capacity. Thus, the event, the flesh and the idol are paradigmatic phenomena of phenomenal saturation.
It is understandable, then, that this phenomenology crosses with a certain theology. When demonstrating the idolatrous character of the conceptual God of metaphysics, Marion thinks of a God freed from being and knowing, a God of Love that then occurs to the Being, within the absence. Therefore, the God of Love that does not occur within the world but rather, as happens in all love, as the world, must be erased. Along this phenomenological path, we will encounter technical objects, painting, invisibility, the gift, the caress and the confession. In each instance, the point is to discover what surpasses us and, as such, what calls us.
