From the most diverse contexts, Languages in Contact: Challenges in Diversity (volume 1) offers different perspectives and confronts the reader with the many faces of diversity, and the challenges that arise when aiming to understand and accept them.

Motivated by linguistics, literature, ethnology, educational processes, linguistic contact, translingualism, linguistic vitality and, at the same time, the continuous displacement of many languages in the world, we seek to better understand the complexities inherent to diversity through interdisciplinary collaborative research.

More than a book, Languages in Contact: Challenges in Diversity brings together multiple voices from different corners of the Americas and Europe. Each one shares unique experiences, knowledge, theories, methodologies, practices and expectations; eye-opening accounts of language contact and language displacement and death. Each chapter encourages us to reflect on and confront the profound social, linguistic and cultural inequities that the speech communities we work with are surrounded by.
Without any doubt, each section offers innovative answers and proposals which encourage us to find better ways of understanding and living diversity with each and every one of our senses.
