MEMORIAS EN LUCHA. RECUERDOS Y SILENCIOS EN CONTEXTOS DE SUBORDINACIÓN Y ALTERIDAD

How is memory constructed in contexts of subordination? Border immigrants, Afro-descendants and indigenous peoples, among others, display their words and reflections on their own memory. In the context provided by social struggles and daily life, different questions and approaches are stimulated about the performative value of memory, silences, secrets and forgetfulness, agencies, materiality and the future. Each chapter emerges from a particular dialogue with people who live their lives in geographies distant from each other, traversed by common but also particular historical experiences. The proposed perspective is framed in the asymmetric relations of power that guide the selection, reconstruction and organization of past narratives. The objective is to understand and explain the epistemological diversity, the specific claims and the particular effects of those memories that are long marginalized or silenced in history.
