This text outlines a method of arranging and exhibiting visual archives based on the notion of montage, using elements of methodological approaches of Aby Warburg and Walter Benjamín. The correspondences drawn between the historical practices of the two authors are used to call attention to their shared method to understand relations among archival elements and temporalities that can be established based on those relations. This suggests the possibility of producing a montage made up of images produced and circulated in different contexts, with an iconographic motif consisting on the abuses of language and alluding to relations among memory, violence, and silence, which may be used to establish correspondences between the different periods of violence in Colombia.
