Native Plants for Erosion Control

Plantas nativas para el control de erosión

The book addresses the issues of erosion and ecological restoration from an integral and multidisciplinary point of view, in order to use native plant species as bioengineering elements and ensure a healthy functioning of the ecosystem. It provides practical guidelines on how to use various native plants to minimize erosive effects on slopes with moderate gradients or undermined slopes, both in urban and rural areas, crop fields, roadsides or in any other unsteady ground conditions. It includes 70 species for which, in addition to the taxonomic description, data on phenology, habitat type, propagation, geographic distribution and various uses are provided. It includes a special section on erosion control with seeding methods, root type and some criteria for revegetation projects. It includes a textual and illustrated glossary to guide the reader on the basic concepts of plants. It is a practical book, especially for field use, written in clear and simple language.
