Where does the journey takes us? To unknown countries, to unpredictable territories. It starts like life itself, in any corner of the world and opens up to time and space. Those who came to Mexico from 1910 to 1938 are a great example of that. Some travelers—whose experience collects the present volume—scrupulously aligned themselves with the Mexican landscape and established coordinates to delimit differences between countryside and the city; the result of his observations was that, far from the city, in its surroundings or in its provinces, was the deep indigenous Mexico of large fields of corn and sugarcane, banana and coffee, a world that impressed them thoroughly.
